PSA Group launched a new model exclusively for the Chinese market at this week’s Beijing show – the DS 4S. Designed in France and produced at PSA’s Shenzhen joint venture factory, the car is positioned as a ‘premium hatchback’ in the compact car segment.
“DS Automobiles has everything it takes to fulfil the expectations of Chinese drivers. The new exclusive model further demonstrates the refinement, dynamism and comfort that are the hallmarks of the DS brand,” the automaker said in a statement.

The new model is on display with DS 6 SUV, DS 5LS three-box saloon), and DS 5 (hatchback) models also sold in China. An original Citroen ‘goddess’ DS 21 is also on the stand.
The DS 4S has the latest EAT6 automatic gearbox as standard and is offered with three petrol engines with outputs ranging from 136hp to 204hp. The DS 4S debut also sees the Chinese debut of PSA’s PureTech engine, voted a ‘2015 International Engine of the Year’.
Dashboard and door panels are covered in high-grade leather with the ‘watchstrap-style’ upholstery pattern also offered (in slightly more muted colours) in European-specification DS4s. Chinese buyers choose from six metallic paint shades and five trim/equipment levels dubbed Comfort, Fashion, Luxury, Luxury Technology and Prestige.
The car also has DS CONNECT technology (navigation, safety and communication functions).
