Chinese tech giant Baidu has reached an agreement with Tesla to grant Musk’s firm access to its mapping license for data collection on China’s public roads, Reuters reports.

The details were disclosed by two people familiar with the matter, according to the report.

It comes as Baidu recently signed an MoU with Hyundai to strengthen their collaboration in smart connected vehicle services in China by exploring new opportunities for advanced technology.

The deal between Tesla and Baidu deal clears a final regulatory hurdle for Tesla’s driver assistance system, called Full Self-Driving (FSD), to be offered in China, the sources said. The two firms first partnered in 2020, with Tesla using Baidu’s navigation map.
