Autoneum is launching its Tune-It carpet systems innovation at the Automotive Acoustics Conference on 11/12 July 2017 in Zurich/Ruschlikon, Switzerland.

Autoneum invests in the development of multifunctional components and technologies for noise protection and thermal management in vehicles. In particular, this includes carpet systems which reduce noise in the passenger cabin but also have an influence on vehicle weight due to their large size.

With Tune-It for needlepunch carpets, Autoneum says it “now offers automotive manufacturers a technology that makes the car of tomorrow lighter, more comfortable and environmentally friendly – while delivering ideal acoustic performance at the same time.”

Tune-It is based on a fibre combination in the carpet backing with which sound insulation and absorption can be tuned to the specific needs and geometry of the passenger cabin across the surface of the carpet.

It is now possible, maintains Autoneum, to define the optimum insulation and absorption performance already during the development phase of new vehicle models by means of computer-aided simulations.

In addition, given a weight advantage of up to 25% compared to standard needlepunch carpets, components based on Tune-It also support reduced fuel consumption and fewer vehicle emissions.
