Acquiring the largest part of Delphi’s European airbag activities last month has enabled gas inflation systems maker iSi Automotive to now supply a full range of side, cranium and knee impact airbags.
The purchase price was not disclosed. The company is taking over existing business supplying airbags to carmakers including Seat, Audi and Daimler. Production and final assembly facilities for complete airbag modules will be built at its Vienna headquarters.
The supplier has also acquired a development centre in Berlin from Delphi, complementing its own R&D department. It will retain “the majority” of jobs at the Berlin centre which will be further developed.
