Subaru’s global Impreza roll-out is continuing with the Australian launch of the redesigned model line with new engine options and technology.

Entry-level 2.0i sedan and hatchback pricing is the same as the previous model at A$23,990 (US$25,643), with the 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S priced slightly higher at A$26,990 and A$31,990 due to increased standard equipment.

The top 2.0i-S now has an automatic transmission instead of manual. Other standard features include Bluetooth, start-stop and a multi-function interactive display.

The 2012 Impreza is 10kg lighter but has a 25% stiffer platform.

The new FB20 2.0L flat-four engine with six-speed manual transmission. It develops the same 110kW power and 196Nm of torque as the EJ20 it replaces with fuel economy of 7.1l/100km.

The CVT auto-equipped 2.0i is more fuel efficient than the manual at 6.8L/100km.

The updated Impreza makes its European debut at the Geneva show next month.
