AUSTRALIA: Proton Waja show debut sparks local interest
Proton Australia received 500 pre-launch inquiries and thousands of information requests for its new Waja sedan after displaying the car at the Sydney Motor Show. The car's Down Under introduction will be delayed partly by an increase in Malaysian demand and partly because Proton Australia has specified a 1.8 litre Renault engine that will not be available until the second quarter of 2001.
