Prodrive’s Australian joint venture, Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV), has launched its first turbo-charged production concept car – the F6 Typhoon.

Unveiled at the Melbourne Motor Show, the F6 Typhoon has a four-litre turbo-charged and intercooled six-cylinder F6 270 engine that will produce 270kW (360bhp) and 550Nm of torque – the highest torque output of any production engine ever built in Australia.
Production of the F6 Typhoon is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2004, when it will join the GT, GT-P and Pursuit Ute as part of the FPV range which shares the Boss 290 V8 engine.
It is expected to retail between $A56,000 and $A59,000.
