Evans joins Lexus with over 30 years’ experience in the automotive industry and an intimate knowledge of the luxury Toyota brand and products.

He previously held positions as corporate manager for product planning and several senior marketing, strategy and brand roles for a number of rival automotive brands.

He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, particularly regarding product, brand enhancement, brand strategy, research, product development, service, accessories and dealer development, the automaker said.

Evans and his team were responsible for the continued growth of the Lexus product portfolio, successfully negotiating the imminent launch of IS 350 in Australia and setting the groundwork for future product expansion.

He began his career in 1980 as an engineering graduate with Ford Australia where he worked on a variety of local and global vehicle projects in Australia, North and South America, Asia and New Zealand.

In 1986, he joined Toyota Motor Corporation Australia as product planning and engineering manager.

Evans said he was extremely excited about his appointment to Lexus.

“In the early ’90s I was heavily involved with the launch of Lexus, so in a way this is a bit of a homecoming for me,” he said.
