The cars were sold in Australia and New Zealand as the VE Commodore and WM Statesman/Caprice, as the Chevrolet Lumina and Chevrolet Caprice in the Middle East and in Brazil as the Chevrolet Omega, spokesman John Lindsay told the Associated Press (AP).
A variation just being launched in the United States as the Pontiac G8 was not recalled because its under-bonnet layout was different, he told the news agency.
Lindsay told the Associated Press the recall was a precaution to prevent a potential fuel leak caused by a fuel line rubbing against a clip on an adjacent hose.
“The chances of this happening are very low, but obviously we are erring on the side of caution,” he told AP.
