Fiat’s Australian distributor Ateco Automotive is reviving the Ritmo name for the Down Under version of the C-segment Bravo which will make its debut at the Sydney motor show in October.
The name Bravo used in most markets has already been registered in Australia by another car maker. However, Ritmo was previously used in some markets in Europe about 20 years ago.
The Australian range will include a 110kW 1.9 litre Multijet turbodiesel engine and a new turbocharged version of the Punto’s 1.4 litre petrol motor. The smaller car is already on sale there and marked the return of Fiat passenger cars to the market, though commericial vehicles had been sold there for some time.
“The Ritmo name is derived from the Italian for ‘rhythm’,” Ateco’s Fiat Cars general manager David Stone said. “It is often seen in the phase ‘ritmo de vida’ which directly translates as ‘the rhythm of life’ and which is used to describe things such as music, dance, art and theatre that bring pleasure, excitement and joy to life.”
