More than 25,000 owners will be supported with parts, service and warranties by a national network of 86 ASOs, which are made up from existing Toyota dealerships and specifically established outlets.
“Customers can be confident of receiving full and ongoing support to facilitate their future driving satisfaction,” said Dave Buttner, Toyota Australia’s executive director of sales and marketing. “We thank them for their loyalty and trust in the Daihatsu brand.
“We are proud of the role that Daihatsu has played in the Australian car market, particularly in the recreational 4WD market and great consideration was given to the decision to wind down sales.”
Toyota Australia has managed the distribution of Daihatsu in Australia since 2000 and last year decided to wind down the vehicle sales arm of its operations.
Toyota Australia made the decision in conjunction with Daihatsu Motor Corporation (DMC) and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) following an intensive study of Daihatsu’s current and forecast performance in Australia and the broader competitive environment.
