The website said that BMW Australia will launch the new car at this week’s Melbourne motor show before it goes on sale in June. Until now, Australian buyers have been offered only the 5-series touring.

Drive.com.au said that the new Aussie model will be a 320i with 2.2 litre six-cylinder engine, the choice of manual or automatic transmission and standard anti-lock brakes, automatic stability control and cornering brake control.

Clear indicator lenses, fog lights, heated exterior mirrors and windscreen washer jets, roof rails, rear spoiler, 16-inch star spoke alloy wheels with 225/50 R16 tyres, Montana leather interior trim, climate-controlled air conditioning, eight airbags, retractable cargo net, in-dash CD player, leather sports steering wheel with multifunction/cruise control and luggage compartment 12-volt power outlet are all on the standard equipment list for Australia, drive.com.au said.

Australians will pay from $A65,000 ($US34,700) for the manual 3-series touring and from $67,600 for the optional five-speed automatic, the website added.
