Adient has opened its US$20m manufacturing Loznica facility in Serbia, which will employ 1,500 staff.
The production plant of 13,000 square metres was constructed and opened in one year, with the Serbian government investing EUR3m into the project.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, plant manager Adient Serbia, Sasa Vodovar, Mayor of Loznica, Vidoje Petrovic and Michel Berthelin, VP, EMEA, who joined the ceremony via video call.
“[The] Production plant is 13,000 square metres and will produce car seat covers,” said Vodovar.
“Given our experience I can say Adient considers Serbia as an excellent business destination.”
Berthelin cited the role the factory in Loznica had within the Adient network during the pandemic period. From around 15m Adient products during that time, 1.2m were produced in Serbia.
