Adient has teamed with FCA to produce a future seat for the automaker's Chrysler Portal concept vehicle.
The Chrysler Portal is an interpretation of the 'fifth generation' of family transport and was unveiled at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The seat will also be on display at next week's North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit's CoboCenter next week.

"We took pride in collaborating with FCA US on the seat for this vehicle," said Adient VP Innovation, Richard Chung.
"Our engineering team worked closely with the FCA US team to develop the features of the Chrysler Portal seat, which addresses trends such as urbanisation and autonomous driving."
According to Chung, the Chrysler Portal's seat concept is a thin seat, which folds flat, folds up and slides fore and aft on a track system. The seats mount to tracks embedded in the floor, enabling them to move the full length of the vehicle and, if needed, to be removed from the rear.
The seat sits on tracks on a narrow pedestal design that has multiple embedded functions. For example, the pedestal includes a release handle for adjustment when the seat is in a flip-up position.
