The annual Vietnam Motor Show, scheduled to be held in Hanoi in November 2025, has been cancelled due to a lack of interest from local vehicle manufacturers. The organisers, including the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and the Vehicle Importers Vietnam Association (VIVA), cited market weakness and a lack of new products from member companies as the main reasons.

VAMA also cited “limitations in the host venue” and “ongoing challenges in the domestic automobile manufacturing, assembly, and trading sectors” as key reasons for cancelling the show.

Local industry analysts pointed out that established auto companies are instead opting to hold their own rotating exhibitions in major cities across the country to promote their vehicles, as well as making greater use of digital marketing.

The last time the Vietnam Motor Show took place was in October 2024 in Ho Chi Minh city, but many key brands were absent, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, VinFast, Audi, Volkswagen, and Volvo.

According to member data released by VAMA, the Vietnamese vehicle market expanded by 7% to 295,979 units in 2024, after two years of sharp declines, while sales in the first seven months of 2025 increased by 12% to 157,146 units – driven by strong demand for commercial vehicles. This does not include VinFast, which sold 67,569 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the first half of the year.

VAMA confirmed that the exhibition will go ahead as planned next year, at the Vietnam National Exposition Centre in Đông Anh, Hanoi. It will feature a radically new format, incorporating advanced interactive technologies and new experiential zones designed to maximise value for both exhibitors and visitors.
