“Considering that bilateral consultations between China and the US failed to solve concerns of China, China requested consultations with the US under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism regarding those measures,” it said in a statement.
As the world’s second biggest exporter, China is frequently involved in trade disputes, and has been challenged by the United States on a range of issues, from import tariffs on car parts to protection of intellectual property.
The mission statement said China had repeatedly expressed its concern to the United States about Commerce Department measures tackling alleged unfairly priced (or dumped), imports and Chinese subsidies on certain products.
China has also appealed against a ruling by the WTO that its import regime for car parts is illegal and contravenes WTO rules.
