The granted patent (Publication Number: US11999193B2) discloses a novel tyre design for vehicle wheels that includes at least one external structural element made of a crosslinked elastomeric material. This material comprises a crosslinkable elastomeric composition with a diene elastomeric polymer and a system for protection against ozone. Notably, the system for protection against ozone is free of polymeric static protective agents and only includes at least one phenolic antioxidant, present in an amount between 6 phr and 15 phr. The phenolic antioxidant options listed in the claims include various compounds like octadecyl-3-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate and 1,3,5-trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl) benzene.

Furthermore, the patented tyre design also incorporates a carcass structure with reinforcing structures, a tread band positioned radially outward from the carcass structure, and a pair of sidewalls flanking the carcass structure. The external structural element, which can be a sidewall or a pair of sidewalls, may also feature decorative elements on its external surface. The amount of phenolic antioxidant in the elastomeric composition is specified to be below 12 phr, with options like 4,6-bis(octylthiomethyl)-o-cresol and 4{[4,6-bis(octylsulphanyI)-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino}2,6-di-t-butylphenol being suitable choices for this application. This patented tyre design aims to enhance the durability and performance of vehicle wheels by utilizing a specific composition for protection against ozone without the need for polymeric static protective agents.
