Deliveries from Volvo’s truck operations, which comprise Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, and Renault Trucks, reached 47,352 trucks in the first four months of the year, a decrease of 14% on the same period of last year.

In Europe deliveries declined by 17% to 29,902 units and in North America 10,560 trucks were delivered, 18% off last year’s pace.

Volvo reports however that on a 12-month rolling basis, order intake was 2% below the same period last year, of which North America was minus 23% and Europe was up 4%.

Also on a positive note for Volvo, the month of April saw an increase in deliveries.

“Deliveries in April were 9% higher compared with the same month last year, with increased volumes coming from Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks. Renault Trucks deliveries were unchanged for the month of April. Order intake continues to develop favorably for both Renault and Volvo in Europe. In North America, order intake has increased significantly in recent months for both Mack and Volvo, reflecting the implementation of new emission regulations in October 2002,” said Volvo’s CEO, Leif Johansson.
