Vehicle production last week in the US, Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 366,911 units, up from the 313,650 cars and trucks built the previous week, according to Ward’s Automotive Reports.

Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 7,708,310 vehicles, up 5.5% from like-2001’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 269,198 vehicles last week, up 24.7% from the 215,894 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2002 US vehicle output totals an estimated 5,657,403 units, up 7.7% from the 5,252,284 vehicles built in like-2001.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 59,401, a 0.4% increase from the 59,160 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar-2002 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,246,040 units, up 1.5% compared to the 1,228,099 vehicles produced in like-2001.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 34.7%; Ford Motor Co., 28.2%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.0%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 5.6%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 5.7%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 3.4%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.0%; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., 1.1%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 1.6%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.7%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.6%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; and other manufacturers, 1.4%.
