A spokeswoman for DaimlerChrysler AG on Wednesday confirmed a media report that the US-German car maker earned more than half of its €641 million operating profit in the second quarter through currency hedging, Dow Jones said.

“We have earned €350 million from currency hedging in the second quarter,” the spokeswoman told the news agency.

In an advance copy of a report to be published in Thursday’s Focus Money, the German weekly magazine said DaimlerChrysler’s second-quarter operating profit was boosted by more than half from successful hedging against the weaker US dollar, Dow Jones added.
