Kongsberg Automotive said its driver control systems unit had won “significant contracts” to supply automated manual transmission (AMT) systems for commercial vehicles worth an estimated EUR110m (NOK990m) over five years.

Deliveries (the automakers were not names as is traditional in the supplier sector) will start in 2016 and 2017 from factories in South and North America.

“The business awards reflect the significant investments and strong focus by Kongsberg Automotive on AMT products,” the supplier said in a statement.

“[We have] developed efficient actuation solutions for AMT transmissions which drive reduction in fuel consumption, minimise maintenance cost and enhance driver comfort. The AMT system contributes to the truck OEMs meeting the toughest emission standards on the market.”
