Hyundai Motor America President and CEO Finbarr O’Neill will be making a special trip to Detroit to speak to members of the Automotive Press Association (APA).

Last week, O’Neill received the distinction of being named an Automotive News All Star as Asian Nameplate Executive. What: O’Neill will be discussing Hyundai’s impressive turnaround as well as the future of the Korean-based automaker in the American market.

Hyundai Motor America, who generated a U.S.-best 82 percent sales gain last year, is on track to better 1999’s totals with an anticipated 220,000 units sold by year-end. O’Neill will also be discussing Hyundai’s newest vehicle — the Santa Fe.

Due out this summer, the affordable Santa Fe is the first sport utility vehicle designed, engineered and developed specifically for the U.S. market by the Hyundai Motor Company. A model will be on display at the presentation, providing Detroit-based journalists a last chance to preview this pivotal vehicle before it debuts in the press fleets and the showroom floors.
