Following on from its Thai launch last November, Mitsubishi has finally confirmed the redesigned L200 pickup truck’s European specification ahead of its Geneva regional debut and summer launch.

While other markets are also offered older 2.4-litre petrol and 2.5 diesel engines, the European line will have only a new aluminium 2.4 MIVEC turbocharged diesel engine (coded 4N15) with a 17% improvement in CO2 emissions (from the outgoing model’s 169 g/km) coupled to a new six-speed manual transmission. Automatic transmission with paddle shift will be optional.

Oil change intervals widen from 15,000km to 20,000km, coolant change from 60,000km to 180,000 km and the automatic transmission is maintenance free.

Drivers can choose four driving modes by rotating a knob, active stability and traction control with trailer stability assist and hill start assist systems plus lane departure warning will be available along with HID headlamps (with integrated LED daytime running lights and bi-xenon projectors.

Seven airbags including side and curtain units for the front seats plus a new knee airbag for the driver are standard.

Other features include new rear doors on the club cab version, keyless start, cruise control with adaptive speed limiter, dual temperature automatic A/C, reach and rake adjustment of the steering wheel, rear view camera and digital radio.

European L200s will again be built in Thailand (which supplies most global markets) and Europe will get club cab and double cab body styles – the single cab will not be offered.
