Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 5,580,571 vehicles, up 5.8 percent from like-2001’s pace.


In the U.S., automakers were expected to produce 273,245 vehicles last week, up 4.4 percent from the 261,812 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2002 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 4,095,614 units, up 8.7 percent from the 3,766,785 vehicles built in like-2001.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 62,097, a 2.0 percent increase from the 60,893 units assembled the previous week.


Estimated calendar-2002 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 909,664 units, up 1.4 percent compared to the 897,008 vehicles produced in like-2001.
