Renault Argentina SA has been forced to establish a four day working week for the 1,300 workers at its car assembly plant in Argentina’s Cordoba province. Employees have been ordered to stay at home one day per week because of rising inventories and slow sales, union leaders said.

Renault said the plant has 350 workers who would have to be laid off if they don’t work one day less per week. Renault will maintain the production cutback until the end of the year and may increase worker suspensions to two days per week.
