A fund General Motors set up to compensate victims of car crashes caused by faulty ignition switches has now paid out for 80 deaths.
Another 91 death-related claims are still under review. The GM Ignition Compensation Claims Resolution Facility has so far ruled 304 applications ineligible, deficient or submitted without supporting documents.

Of the claims made for injuries in two categories of seriousness, the fund has paid out 148 with 1,155 still in review and 2,564 rejected.
A total of 4,342 claims were made to the fund, administered by lawyer and compensation expert Kenneth Feinberg, by the 31 January 2015 deadline.
