Workers at Renault and Fiat JV car factories in Turkey are striking this week in a dispute over wages.
The industrial action began late last week at the Bursa plant managed by Oyak Renault, a joint venture between Renault and the Oyak army pension fund. Around half of the workforce at the plant are striking this week and the dispute has spread to Tofas – Fiat’s Turkish JV with Koc.

Tofas has said that it has ceased production but also claimed the stoppage would not have an impact on sales, suggesting stocks are high. Tofas produces the Fiat Linea and Doblo cargo van. The Renault JV has also reportedly ceased production.
Renault’s factory in Bursa has a capacity to produce 360,000 cars a year, accounting for a large share of the country’s car market.
The status of talks to end the disputes and when a return to normal working is likely, is currently unclear.
