Used car registrations — generally imported used cars, mostly from Japan — totalled 14,194 last month, 22.2% ahead of a year ago, the government agency said in a statement, according to the news agency.

Reuters said new commercial vehicle registrations during the month were 1,738, up 18% from the 1,473 recorded a month earlier, and down 2.9% on May last year.

The top selling make in May was Ford with 1,128 new cars, followed by General Motors’ Holden with 1,025 new cars, Reuters added.
