Hyundai Mobis entered the global head up display (HUD) market with the Hyundai Motor launch of the Genesis GV80 in South Korea in January.

South Korea's largest automotive components manufacturer said its first commercial HUD, a 12 inch windscreen display, is fitted to the flagship SUV produced by the automaker's luxury car division.

The parts maker is now in talks with other global automakers to develop and supply new HUD products which it hopes will become major export items for the company.

Hyundai Mobis is entering a market dominated currently by large global suppliers such as Continental, Denso and Nippon Seiki.

In a statement, the head of Hyundai Mobis in vehicle infotainment systems engineering centre said "future infotainment systems will provide more extensive and convenient services to passengers beyond simple driving assistance and information. We are developing various [products] that allow drivers to enjoy a differentiated experience in the vehicle".

Hyundai Mobis' largest shareholder is Kia Motors with a 16.9% stake, followed by Hyundai Motor Group chairman Mong-Ku Chung with almost 7%.

The company manufactures chassis modules and systems and has played a pivotal role in Hyundai-Kia's adoption of advanced technology such as autonomous driving, powertrain electrification, in vehicle information and connected systems.
