Shutdown periods are now between 9 April and 1 May, 2020 (9-11 April, 13-18 April, 20-24 April, 27 April-1 May).

A total of 19 plant working days will be lost.

The plant will reopen on 11 May, 2020 (2-10 May is an originally scheduled holiday).

Jiji Press had reported last week Subaru would shutter Gunma from 11 April to 1 May, and extend the ongoing suspension, which started 23 March, of production at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) until 17 April.

The total number of affected work days is 17 at Gunma and 19 in the US.

Output was expected to fall about 39,000 units in Japan and 32,000 in the US.

Local media reports in the US said all SIA workers would continue to receive full pay through Friday, 10 April. A company paid day on 28 December would be pulled forward to cover 6 April. To cover 7-9 April, SIA would pull forward three remaining company paid days of 29 June, 10 July and 23 December. 10 April, Good Friday, would remain a paid holiday.

The company had even earlier extended what was supposed to be just a week-long closure through 6 April. The factory was originally going to close 23-29 March.
