Continental has postponed further talks with Gifhorn plant union representatives on layoffs and cost cutting.

The parties failed to reach an agreement on 4 September, Reuters reported. They have been negotiating since November 2014 on modifying the plant’s cost structure while limiting job cuts.

The company has offered to spend EUR100m (US$111.16m) at the factory in the next six years and reduce the number of workers from the present 1,500 to 800 by 2023.
