A supplier that was formed from a failed General Motors parts operation will close its factory in Oshawa, Ontario, eliminating more than 1,200 jobs, according to Automotive News.
The trade newspaper said that Automotive Component Systems of Michigan Inc., headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, has told employees that the 95-year-old plant no longer is competitive.
The plant manufactures floor pans, plastic bumper fascias and other parts but the antiquated factory operated below capacity and had trouble attracting new business, Automotive News said.
