Hyundai Motor aims to more than double its exports to Algeria to 12,800 vehicles this year from 5,663 in 2002 in line with its efforts to increase its share of the African market, the car maker said on Wednesday, according to Dow Jones.

“We are targeting to achieve a 20% market share in Algeria this year, which is emerging as the most important part of the African auto market,” South Korea’s biggest car maker said in a statement cited by Dow Jones.

During the first five months of this year, Hyundai Motor sold 4,573 units in Algeria, nearly tripling from 1,734 units the year-ago period, the Dow Jones report said, adding that the statement didn’t say why the sales increased.
