Isuzu Motors on Friday said it was recalling a combined 64,000 units of its sport-utility vehicles for free repairs to their defective body frames, Dow Jones reported, citing the Kyodo news service.

According to the report, subject to the recall are 50,743 Big Horns [Troopers] manufactured between July 1993 and May 1996, 10,011 MUs made between July 1993 and May 1996, 2,027 Horizons made between January 1994 and May 1996, and 1,495 Jazz vehicles made between October 1993 and May 1996.
The Horizon and Jazz vehicles were sold by Honda Motor, the report added.
In a report submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Isuzu said the body frames of these vehicles may be cracked as they were inappropriately welded, the Dow Jones report said.
Honda and Isuzu have exchanged vehicles on an OEM basis in the past. In Japan, Honda’s Domani and Accord sedans have been sold as Isuzu models while, in the US, Isuzu’s Rodeo SUV has been rebadged as the Honda Passport and, in Japan some other Isuzu SUV models have also been sold as Hondas. The Dow Jones report of a recall by Isuzu of vehicles sold by Honda apparently reflects this arrangement.
