The realignment evolves the group’s traditional division structure into a streamlined, cross-functional group encompassing core disciplines: manufacturing technologies; integration and assembly technologies; structural solutions; engineering; and sales and marketing.

Each will benefit from services coordinated across the business unit including quality, purchasing, information technology, and administrative support.

“We are focusing on the core disciplines that drive our businesses,” said group president Bill Carroll.

“Ultimately, the unique product and service capabilities in this group will position Dana to make the transformation from a component producer capable of supplying systems to a systems producer capable of supplying components,” Carroll added.

The torque and traction manufacturing technologies group will design and manufacture – surprise, surprise – torque and traction components, including axles and driveshafts with Ismael Melgar as group president.

Melgar was most recently global president of Dana’s traction technologies group and has also been a manager in the company’s driveshaft operations.

The torque and traction integration technologies group will focus on assembly techniques with Bob Fesenmyer as president. Fesenmyer was previously a manager in the driveshaft and light axle operations and was most recently president of customer satisfaction within the traction technologies group.

The structural solutions group will continue to be led by VP Bruce Butcher and focus on weight-bearing structural component technologies and related systems.

Mike Greene, former head of the torque management group, will serve as president of global engineering and technology where he will lead development of engineering processes and capabilities to support customers.
