Production levels at the Uralsky car producing plant (UralAZ) in August 2000 reached 679 units, according to Russian press reports (5/9/00).

The factory registered a 42 per cent increase in production for the first eight months of 2000 compared to the same period last year. In total, 5,558 cars have been produced this year.

The report – citing UralAZ officials – says that the factory sells its cars for cash only and that the volume of cars produced is dependent on customer solvency.
