Nissan Motor confirmed it was investing THB10bn (US$328m) this year to upgrade its production facilities in Thailand.
The announcement was made by Nissan Motor Thailand president Ramesh Narasimhan at the launch of the redesigned Navara pickup truck.

Thailand has become the automaker's main production hub in south east Asia following its decision earlier this year to close its two plants in Indonesia.
The investment in Thailand is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, with new equipment being installed to accommodate production of new models including electric vehicles for sale domestically and for export.
Earlier this year the company announced plans discontinue three models in Thailand, the Sylphy and Teana passenger cars and the X-Trail SUV, to make way for the new models.
Capacity at Nissan Motor Thailand's two plants in Samut Prakan will remain unchanged at 250,000 units/year combined, according to Mr Narasimhan, despite the company having announced it will hire 2,000 additional workers.
Nissan sold 33,000 vehicles in Thailand in the first nine months of 2020.
