BT is to deploy new a software defined wide area network (SD-WAN) for FCA in Europe.
The new SD-WAN will provide the automotive firm with a network optimised for the cloud.
It will help FCA by providing more choice and control about how the network is managed. This will allow the company to create the user experience for people, devices and machines in 95 sites including 11 manufacturing plants, as they access corporate applications and data.
The solution will be deployed on top of a hybrid infrastructure offering the company a choice of connectivity tailored for each application, such as the internet for low-priority purposes like web browsing, or BT’s global MPLS network for sensitive data and critical applications.
“Our consultants worked closely with FCA’s IT team to help it choose a connectivity solution to meet the needs of its business,” said BT managing director, resources, manufacturing and logistics & Europe, Joris van Oers.
“They created a roadmap and business case, drawing on their deep SD-WAN expertise and over 14 years’ experience of working with FCA.”
