Carlos Ghosn has promised, via a brief Twitter statement, to tell his side of the story.

"I'm getting ready to tell the truth about what's happening. Press conference on Thursday, April 11," read the only entry in English on a newly opened Twitter account @carlosghosn, which carries an indication Twitter had verified the account is genuine.

The social media account describes him as "Father, Husband, Former Chairman and CEO of Nissan Motor, Renault, Former Chairman of Mitsubishi Motors, Former Chairman and CEO of the Alliance".

A recent report said Ghosn's lawyers had asked he be placed on trial separately from Nissan Motor because the automaker was helping prosecutors.

He also asked to be dealt with separate from former director Greg Kelly who was accused along with Ghosn of hiding part of the latter's income.

According to the report, a statement did not say why Ghosn did not want to be tried with Kelly and lawyers were unavailable to comment.
