Kia Motors plans to launch seven, purpose-built, all-electric vehicle models based on the group’s newly-developed electric-global modular platform (E-GMP) by 2027, according to local reports citing a company statement.
The first of these, a battery-powered crossover vehicle codenamed CV, will be launched in the first quarter of 2021. It will be the first model to carry Kia’s newly launched brand logo.

The new model will be fitted with a fast-charging battery pack that can provide a cruising range of up to 500km (300 miles). Other models under development using this platform include passenger cars, SUVs and MPVs.
The South Korean automaker plans to launch 11 new electric vehicles by 2025, including models not based on the E-GMP, as it targets growing global demand for zero emissions vehicles.
Kia said it aimed to capture a 6.6% share of the global market for battery-powered electric vehicles by 2025 from around 1% at present and was looking to produce more than 600,000 units annually by 2026.
