Ford said its sales grew more than 3% in the third quarter of 2019 in the company’s traditional 20 European markets, outpacing industry growth of 2.2%.
Market share was flat at 7.5%.

Passenger vehicle sales were up 5.6% to 221,600 with share up 0.2% to 6.3%.
Commercial vehicle sales fell 2.6% to 91,800 and lost 1% of market share at 14.5%.
“Overall Ford vehicle sales and market share grew in the third quarter to their highest levels since 2016,” said marketing, sales and service chief Roelant de Waard.
“Customers continue to appreciate the versatility and capability of Ford utility vehicles.”
Ford said it was the second best selling single nameplate brand in Europe for the year to date, after Volkswagen and remained top commercial vehicle brand as the top selling single nameplate.
Total vehicle sales and market share hit their highest levels for the third quarter since 2016.
SUV sales grew year over year and accounted for more than one out of every four passenger vehicles sold.
High series models (Titanium, Vignale, Active, ST line, ST and RS trims) accounted for 76% of Ford’s passenger vehicles in the third quarter 2019, up 4.2% year on year.
Ford sales increased in 12 of the 20 markets in the third quarter, and it remained the market leader in Britain year to date.
Sales growth was especially strong in Germany, where sales rose 21.1% and market share grew 1% in the third quarter; sales also grew in France (up 2.8%) and Italy (1.8%).
The popular C-segment Focus, relatively recently redesigned, enjoyed it best third quarter since 2015, reaching 50,200 units, up 57%, compared with the third quarter 2018.
