The number of visitors to this year's Tokyo motor show increased by close to 70% to 1.3m people compared with 770,000 just two years ago – the last time the event took place.
The main organiser, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), said it was the first time in 12 years that the number of visitors had exceeded a million. This 46th show took place between 24 October and 4 November.

The increase in visitor numbers may signal a renewed interest in automotive products in the country after a long period of decline, with many analysts citing Japan's ageing population as one of the main contributing factors to the declining numbers.
This year's show featured a high number of electronic and connected products and technologies, including from non-traditional automotive companies, which may also have sparked additional consumer interest.
Many foreign automakers decided to skip this year's show due to weakening consumer interest in recent years as well as low sales volumes.
Import sales account for a very small proportion of total vehicle sales in Japan, estimated at around 3%-4%.
JAMA chairman and Toyota Motor president Akio Toyoda said "at the next Tokyo motor show in 2021 we want to present again something that far exceeds people's imagination".
