Hyundai Motor launched its updated Grandeur flagship sedan in South Korea this week with a home market sales target of over 110,000 units by the end of 2020.

In the first nine months of the year Hyundai delivered 69,900 Grandeurs in South Korea, down 16% year on year. The company said it had already received 32,000 local orders for the new model.

The automaker made significant design and styling changes, including a wider and longer body while new features broaden the model's appeal to younger buyers.

The latest Grandeur has Hyundai's forward collision avoidance assist junction turning system (FCA-JT) which helps prevent frontal collisions when turning left at intersections (in LHD markets), as well as highway driving assist, parking collision avoidance assist and blind spot view monitor systems.

The model comes with 2.5-litre and 3.3-litre petrol engines, a three-litre LPG engine and a 2.4-litre petrol/hybrid drivetrain for prices starting at KRW33m (US$28,000).
