Air flow through the front end and roof contributes to efficient aerodynamics, enabling a drag coefficient of 0.24.
The Space Vizzion previews a future production version for Europe and North America, VW said
The concept is based on VW's modular electric drive matrix (MEB). An 82kWh gross battery capacity allows distances of up to 590km (WLTP) or 300 miles (EPA). With system output of up to 250 kW (4Motion version), the vehicle accelerates to 100km/h (62mph) in a claimed 5.4 seconds.
The automaker said compact electric drive dimensions plus battery integrated into the floor allow interior space more like a long wheelbase premium sedan than a mid range model.
Sustainable materials include AppleSkin, an artificial leather containing an amount of residual material from apple juice production. Interior chrome is replaced by a similar looking paint finish.
Driving information is shown on an AR head-up-display and the conventional cockpit is replaced by a small display of basic driving information.
Entertainment, comfort and online functions, plus vehicle settings, are grouped together on a 15.6-inch touchscreen which appears to hover in mid-air.
There is an interactive light strip between the A-pillars.
The production version will launched at the end of 2021 with variations sold in Europe, North America and China.
