UK commercial vehicle (CV) production was flat in October (down just 0.2%) at 9,065 units, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Export output was up 9.3% to 4,251 vehicles but production for the UK fell 8.5% to 4,419.

Key new model production ramped up and 51.3% of output (4,646 units) was exported, higher than last year's 46.8% (4,251).

YTD output was down 11.5% overall with the decline driven primarily by falling exports – 16.6%, 35,463 – with a 3.6% to drop 26,459 for UK sale. A total of 62,102 new CVs have been made in Britain this year.

Engine manufacturing fell 6.2% in October to 246,788. YTD volume fell 2,156,539, down 7.2%. A total of 1,350,990 or 62.6% (also an increase) were for export.
