Car sales by Kia Motors surged 36% year on year in July to 75,951 units, led by strong exports, the South Korean carmaker said on Friday, according to Dow Jones.
Kia’s car exports shot up 87% year on year last month to 52,946 units due to robust sales for its new models introduced late last year in the Europe and the US, Kia reportedly said.
Domestic sales, Dow Jones added, dropped 17% on year to 23,005 units with the falling local sales attributed to a strike that began on July 23, and also because many employees were away on summer holidays.
Month on month, July sales were 17% lower than June, with domestic sales falling 10% and exports sliding 19%, Dow Jones added.
