Renault is expanding its all-electric light commercial vehicle range with global debuts for a longer range Kangoo Van ZE (zero emissions) and a new Master ZE shown at the Brussels motor show.

The latest Kangoo now has a 168 mile range (NEDC) – up over 50% and the claimed longest of any electric LCV – plus faster charging times due to a new 7kW 32A charger making it more practical for business users. Full charge now takes only six hours. The model has a new 33kWh battery, R60 (44kW) motor and is the first electric LCV to be equipped with a heat pump, allowing it to maintain autonomy in cold weather.

Renault claims the Kangoo has been Europe’s best-selling small electric van for the past six years.

The larger Master has been developed primarily to satisfy last-mile urban distribution and municipal needs, according to the automaker. It also has the 33kWh battery but mated to the 57kW motor enabling a range of 124 miles.  A full charge from a 7kW wall box takes six hours.

The electric Master will be available in four versions with three lengths and two heights.

The company has also expanded its range of connected services for commercial customers as well as its specialist network. It claims its range of three electric light commercial vehicles Twizy, Kangoo  and Master is unique worldwide. Some markets are also offered a ‘commercial’ Zoe which recently had a range boost.

The Renault Pro+ dealer chain had a record year for LCV sales in the UK in 2016 with 25,842 sales – up 1.5% compared to 2015 and ahead of the total UK van market which was up by 0.5%.
