Fiat’s operating loss shrank to €25 million in the second quarter of the year from €127 million a year ago, the company said on Thursday, much better than an analysts’ estimate of a 74.5 million euro loss, Reuters reported.

The news agency said Fiat’s core car unit – which triggered the group’s worst crisis last year – narrowed its second-quarter operating loss to €234 million from €394 million a year ago – a Reuters poll of analysts had forecast Fiat Auto would lose €253 million.


Reuters said group revenues fell to €12.46 billion from €14.6 billion in April-June last year while Fiat Auto notched up sales of €5.221 billion in the second quarter, down from €5.8 billion a year ago.
