Lumax Industries' new factory in Gujarat will supply headlamps and rear lamps for the new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift that commences production later this year at the carmaker's Gujarat facility.
Vineet Sahni, CEO, told ETAuto the Lumax facility will go on stream in November this year.

With the new plant on stream, Lumax will have 27 locations across India. Later, the new factory will supply the Tata Tigor at Sanand as well as Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India's existing models made at Gujarat.
ET Auto said work on Lumax's Sanand plant commenced about five months ago and will have an installed capacity of 300,000 car sets annually. About 80% of this capacity will be achieved by next year with full capacity to be reached by 2019-20.
Last May, Lumax started product design and development in Taiwan to undertake tooling and product development for the Taiwan, China, Japan and Korean markets that it currently services from India. Lumax is now expanding the manpower at its overseas design office, mainly designers and engineers, and growing its capacity.
Asia is estimated to be the largest consumer of automotive lighting in the world with India, China, Japan, and South Korea being the main contributors in the region. Due to the rising sales of premium vehicles, low manufacturing costs and favourable government policies, several automotive companies are expanding their facilities in Asia, ETAuto said.
