Information posted by the California Governor's Office of Business and Development indicates that General Motors is adding 1,163 jobs in the San Francisco region through its Cruise Automation property, the investor website Seeking Alpha reported.
GM reportedly will earn an US$8m tax credit in the state to offset its $14m investment.

Cruise Automation is the division of GM that works on autonomous vehicle technology. Testing of self-driving cars is taking place in Arizona, California and Michigan.
Its website lists a vast number of vacancies.
General Motors announced in March 2016 it was acquiring software firm Cruise Automation to further accelerate the company's development of autonomous vehicle technology.
Cruise would operate as an independent unit within GM's recently formed Autonomous Vehicle Development Team led by Doug Parks, GM vice president of autonomous technology and vehicle execution, and would continue to be based in San Francisco. Founded in 2013, Cruise had moved quickly to develop and test autonomous vehicle technology in San Francisco's challenging city environment.
